What each part does.
Power path: Servo drive → electromagnetic torque → rotor / output.
- Drive & absolute feedback
- Output feedback is read directly; the servo drive controls the gearless axis.
- Torque motor
- An annular stator and permanent-magnet rotor produce torque across the air gap.
- Precision bearing
- A large bearing supports the load independently of the magnetic air gap.
- Rotor & load flange
- The output is mechanically connected to the motor rotor, without intervening gears.
- Cooling & housing
- Heat conduction and cooling provisions define the continuous operating envelope.

Factory automation
Handling and assembly cells bring rotary indexing, linear transfer and end-effector motion into one coordinated process.
See the application 02Machine tools
Machine-tool rotary axes need a stiff load path and stable positioning. Direct-drive architectures remove a gear stage while preserving the need for bearings, feedback and thermal control.
